Almost time for Donna’s Market!

I know spring is right around the corner now and not just because of the little sprouts shooting up in the soap garden. We love to get out to some of the spring markets and our kick-off run is usually with Donna here close to home. It is officially less than two weeks until Donna’s Market and that puts me into high gear. (That hysterical laughter in the background would be hubby’s opinion that I’m rarely sitting still as it is so it’s impossible for me to be in high gear- love ya honey!) This year, she has moved the event to a larger location with more parking for everyone. Mark your calendar for Saturday, March 16th, from 10-2pm and join us for a little fun! The location is in the Kroger parking lot at the corner of FM 529 and Barker Cypress Drive in Houston, TX. I’m planning to bring everything you see in the regular stock in our catalog section of the website in addition to a few new surprises. And, as usual for us at Donna’s Market, we’ll have a fun drawing going on but I will save the details of that for a blog post as we get closer to the event.

I know I have a blast chatting with the adults and being goofy with the kids while we’re out there but I’m not the only person who will be at Donna’s. Since I’m pretty big on helping out other small businesses, I wanted to take a few minutes to point out some of the awesome other people who will be out there that you might want to stop and say hi to. Here is the most updated list I have of people who committed to being there. We are partnering up with one of them, Angie’s Bits O’ Glass, and I will have a bit more info about them as we get closer so she can finish editing her website before I show you her gorgeous work! Without further ado, and with as little of my opinion as possible:

And these are just the ones I know the company info on! There should be something for everyone out at the market on March 16th so we hope to see you there! As soon as Angie’s website is finished, I’ll share more about my boothmate for this market & the Klein Oak one. I must get back to the soap pot now so I will sign out until the next time.

Happy Washing!

Where to find us update

Just two quick notes here between soap batches and cleaning up for the weekend.  First, we would like to let everybody know that we have launched our Facebook page after much feet dragging on my part.  And whining, complaining, and procrastinating, too!  What a great example for my kids, right?  I’m still learning how to really use it so please come check us out, like us, and laugh along with me as I figure it all out!  For those who have been so patient (and not so patient too!), thank you and I hope to see you around there in addition to the blog.

We will also be found at our local Family Fun Day on May 5th.  For CHA members, you can find some of our creations at the raffle table.  The kids had fun helping plan our donations and are excited to show off what they helped make.  They had a great time with the themes and colors.  We are not selling that day- just there for the fun and to donate some gift sets for the scholarship fund raffle.  Hope you enter and win!  I will post pictures of the raffle sets as we get closer for all to enjoy.

Back to the kitchen for me.  Enjoy your weekends, all!

Happy Washing!

And the winner of the drawing is…

All the names have been placed into the soap pot and stirred around until at least a light trace has been achieved… Sorry, soap humor there.  We are happy to announce that winner of the giveaway weekend is Angela Greer!  Congratulations on your three bar gift bag and hope that it puts a smile on your face.  Please check your email for details and respond to us soon!  For those who did not win, please don’t fret! I had fun with this and fully plan to hold another one at a later date.  I also owe a huge thank you to Jenny Henderson, my Pampered Chef buddy, who took the time around her moving to make sure my goodies were out at the market.  She helped set up the drawing out at the market and recommends the chocolate soap too!  Here’s a pic of one of the displays she made for both us.

Jenny's Display

Thanks again Jenny.  If anyone needs great kitchen items, just let her know.  She can be found at www.pamperedchef.biz/jennyhenderson and my recommendation list could go on for a while….

What is cooking around here this week?  Spring is in the air and my kitchen smells sweet.  The breeze that blows in smells of our orange blossoms in the yard, honeysuckle wafts from the curing racks, and the sage and citrus scrub teases my nose.  All of the pretty green shoots in the garden make me smile and I play with ideas of green soap.  Beautiful blue skies inspire another run with the soap colors.  Maybe try again with the flames in the bars?  Can I match the color of some of these flowers here in the garden?  Anything ready to be harvested yet that I can play with?  I’ve had inspiration strike again while daydreaming in the sun- back to the soap pots!

Happy Washing!
