Almost time for Donna’s Market!

I know spring is right around the corner now and not just because of the little sprouts shooting up in the soap garden. We love to get out to some of the spring markets and our kick-off run is usually with Donna here close to home. It is officially less than two weeks until Donna’s Market and that puts me into high gear. (That hysterical laughter in the background would be hubby’s opinion that I’m rarely sitting still as it is so it’s impossible for me to be in high gear- love ya honey!) This year, she has moved the event to a larger location with more parking for everyone. Mark your calendar for Saturday, March 16th, from 10-2pm and join us for a little fun! The location is in the Kroger parking lot at the corner of FM 529 and Barker Cypress Drive in Houston, TX. I’m planning to bring everything you see in the regular stock in our catalog section of the website in addition to a few new surprises. And, as usual for us at Donna’s Market, we’ll have a fun drawing going on but I will save the details of that for a blog post as we get closer to the event.

I know I have a blast chatting with the adults and being goofy with the kids while we’re out there but I’m not the only person who will be at Donna’s. Since I’m pretty big on helping out other small businesses, I wanted to take a few minutes to point out some of the awesome other people who will be out there that you might want to stop and say hi to. Here is the most updated list I have of people who committed to being there. We are partnering up with one of them, Angie’s Bits O’ Glass, and I will have a bit more info about them as we get closer so she can finish editing her website before I show you her gorgeous work! Without further ado, and with as little of my opinion as possible:

And these are just the ones I know the company info on! There should be something for everyone out at the market on March 16th so we hope to see you there! As soon as Angie’s website is finished, I’ll share more about my boothmate for this market & the Klein Oak one. I must get back to the soap pot now so I will sign out until the next time.

A recent soap project

Some of the fun projects around here were more work playing with natural colorants in some of our olive oil blends. These pictures were of one of the batches from about two weeks ago. I had a lot of fun with this one and was overjoyed to see some of the swirling practice finally paying off. Unfortunately, there wasn’t really any left after to share so I’m planning to make some again to spread the love around and let everyone else enjoy it too. The coloring work continues with some reds and pinks that should provide some funny pictures down the road for all of us to laugh at, I’m sure. Cold process soap is well known for creating color surprises so I can only keep trying!

It appears that almost all of the weekend changes on the website have worked so far. I’ll learn more about coding this week and see if I can figure out how I turned off some of the pictures in the catalog. Hope you and yours have had a good weekend and we will start seeing everyone in about two weeks here in the Houston, TX area. Will post more this week with the calendar updates about where we’ll be.

Happy Washing!

Updating the website again

We had a run of local sales lately and I am in the process of updating our stock amounts. If all goes well, you shouldn’t see too much weird going on in the catalog section of the site but I have been known to attract computer gremlins while I work on the website. Please be patient with me today as I get this stuff updated and hopefully more of the product pictures fixed in the shopping section also. Cross fingers with me that I don’t kill the website again! More posts to come today and over the weekend to update everyone on what we’ve been cooking up and where to find us this spring. Lots of great news coming your way!

Happy Washing!
